It's been nearly 31 years since Lefty Driesell paced the floors beside the Maryland bench while guiding his Terps to 348 wins.
But as the school unveiled its newest banner in the Xfinity rafters honoring Driesell before the Terps took on Ohio State Feb. 11, it was almost like nothing had changed. The crowd rose to its feet, and flanked on the court by his wife, former players, family and friends, the left-hander held up his signature "V" for victory sign.
"Well, it was super. ... It was great seeing all my old players," Driesell said on Glenn Clark Radio Feb. 13. "See, I told them when they said they wanted to put a banner up of me, I said, 'That's fine, but if my players can't be there, I'm not going to be there.' So we invited all of my players, and the vast majority of them were there, and it was just great seeing them and talking to them because I hadn't seen a lot of them in a long time."
