In the end, Mark Trumbo wanted to be with the Baltimore Orioles all along.
Trumbo, who led the major leagues in home runs with 47 in his first season with the Orioles, had a long and somewhat difficult experience in his first run as a free agent.
On Jan. 20, the outfielder/designated hitter signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract with the team, and a week later, at a news conference, he said ending up in Baltimore was his aim.
"I'm thrilled to be back with the ball club that was my first choice, by far. I tried to make that clear throughout the process. I felt like it was the right place for me from a personal standpoint, but also, this is a place I know I can do well in," Trumbo said.
