Two Former Orioles Gain Support In Hall Of Fame Vote

While Jeff Bagwell, Tim Raines and Ivan Rodriguez are getting most of the attention for their election to the Hall of Fame Jan. 18, there was some good news for two former Orioles.

Technically, left fielder Raines was a former Oriole, but he played in just four games in 2001 so that he could be a teammate of his son, Tim Raines Jr.

Right-hander Vladimir Guerrero, who played his final major league season with the Orioles in 2011, had an excellent showing in his first time on the ballot, receiving 71.7 percent of the vote. It takes 75 percent for election.

In his fourth year, right-hander Mike Mussina garnered 51.8 percent of the vote, up from 43 percent a year ago.
