A day after the Orioles reached agreement on 2017 contracts with four of their biggest stars, they're left with three players who are heading for arbitration.
While left-handed reliever Zach Britton, third baseman Manny Machado, second baseman Jonathan Schoop and right-handed starter Chris Tillman were able to come to terms with the team, right-handed pitchers Brad Brach and Kevin Gausman and catcher Caleb Joseph didn't.
The Orioles pledged to take players who didn't agree to contracts by the deadline for exchanging figures, which was 1 p.m. Jan. 13, to arbitration, choosing not to negotiate further.
None of the three have significant disagreements with the club. Brach, who was a first-time All-Star in 2016, is asking for $3,050,000 while the Orioles are offering $2,525,000. He made $1,300,000 in 2016.
