The Ravens have expressed such a deep recommitment to running the ball next season that they are willing to reach into their past to make it happen.
Former Baltimore assistant offensive line coach Greg Roman will be rejoining the Ravens as a run-game coordinator this fall, the team announced Jan. 12.
For the past two seasons, the Ravens have set franchise-record-lows in rushing attempts, running the ball 383 times in 2015 and dipping further to 367 carries in the just-concluded campaign that saw Baltimore finish with the league's fifth-worst rushing statistics.
The lack of a consistent and persistent running game -- a major part of the Ravens' identity through most of the team's history -- was noted by owner Steve Bisciotti in his remarks during the "State Of The Ravens" news conference Jan. 10.
