Mychal Givens has been making the hour-long drive each day from Tampa Bay, Fla., to bond with some of his teammates and new Orioles pitching coach at the team's three-day minicamp.
The right-handed reliever will see them again when spring training begins Feb. 13, but his time at the Ed Smith Stadium complex will be short because he's planning to play for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic.
Givens has spoken with Joe Torre, Major League Baseball's chief baseball officer, and Team USA manager Jim Leyland, and he's ready.
"I'm pretty comfortable in how they're going to use me and not overuse me. I still have a season to get ready for [in] 2017," Givens said.
