In the grand scheme of things, the Ravens' decision to retain offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg isn't the apocalyptic disaster you probably felt it was when you heard the news.
This isn't me defending the decision in any way. Frankly, I think it's insane. The team claimed former offensive coordinator Marc Trestman had failed in the role, in part, because of his inability to commit to the run, an issue that actually worsened under Mornhinweg. Head coach John Harbaugh, in his own words, described one of Mornhinweg's calls as the "all-time worst call ever" late in the season. Nothing about the Ravens' offense even remotely appeared to work.
The decision to retain Mornhinweg, at best, makes absolutely no sense. At worst, it makes trading former wide receiver Anquan Boldin for a sixth-round pick seem reasonable.
