Lefty Driesell Deserves To Hang From Terps Rafters

It seems all is finally forgiven 30 years after Len Bias' death.

Maryland will honor former men's basketball head coach Lefty Driesell with a banner at Xfinity Center prior to meeting Ohio State Feb. 11, 2017. The move was first reported by The Baltimore Sun and later confirmed by university officials.

Driesell is already in Maryland's athletic Hall of Fame and portrayed by a bas relief sculpture at Xfinity, though his 1969-86 teams played at Cole Field House that's now being converted into an athletic center.

But there was always stain on Driesell over his alleged cover-up of circumstances surrounding Bias' drug overdose in 1986. That story was the biggest of my career and, even three decades later, information trickles in from sources. But in the end, Bias' death wasn't Driesell's fault. The coach made mistakes afterward and paid with his job.
