Will Rising Cost Of Free-Agent Outfielders Cause Orioles To Change Direction?

One of the Orioles' biggest issues last season was lack of depth. Five Orioles regulars: second baseman Jonathan Schoop (162), outfielder Mark Trumbo (159), third baseman Manny Machado (157), first baseman Chris Davis (157) and center fielder Adam Jones (152) played more than 150 games.

Shortstop J. J. Hardy, who missed 42 games with a broken left foot, missed only three after his mid-June return, and catcher Matt Wieters played 124, his most since 2013.

Many of those often-used regulars tired down the stretch, indicating manager Buck Showalter wasn't entirely comfortable with his bench.

Depending on the team's construction, it's possible that two -- or even three -- of the Orioles' bench players will return in 2017.
