There's so much poker being played at the MLB Winter Meetings that 2003 World Series of Poker champion Chris Moneymaker wouldn't even be able to keep up.
Dec. 5's biggest news centered on the Washington Nationals. A USA Today report stated the Nationals have balked at the contract request of superstar outfielder Bryce Harper and are prepared to move on when he reaches free agency in 2018. The report states Harper is seeking at least 10 years, $400 million in a deal.
For what it's worth, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo essentially said nothing about the report, only that teams have to "make plans" for the future, keeping in mind they could lose any player who is slated to become a free agent. Of course, he's playing poker.
