It's pretty clear the Orioles have moved on from catcher Matt Wieters.
As the first day of the MLB Winter Meetings came to an end Dec. 5, executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette indicated the team has resolved itself to life without Wieters.
That isn't a surprise since the Orioles didn't offer the 30-year-old Wieters a $17.2 million qualifying offer this season. A year ago, Wieters surprised the team by taking a $15.8 million offer.
This year, the Orioles are prepared to allow one of the best catchers in team history to walk out the door without getting a draft choice in return.
