Questionable Coaching Decisions Continue To Hurt Ravens

Kicker Justin Tucker's disastrous second-quarter fake field goal pass is not the singular reason why the Baltimore Ravens lost to the Washington Redskins Oct. 9. There were all sorts of failures and blunders throughout the 60 minutes of football that conspired to make the defeat reality.

But the comedy of the attempt -- namely that it started with Tucker lined up on the wrong side of the field, a giant signal of what was coming -- certainly played a role during a one-possession game.

No statistic is available to measure the value of poor coaching decisions. Even the "win probability" statistic can only judge the likelihood of a team winning based on the outcome of a play, not the decision to attempt something in particular during the play.
