With five games remaining in the regular season and the Baltimore Orioles' playoff hopes still hanging in the balance, it's interesting to note who is projected to start the final five regular-season games.
As of now, it looks like the Orioles will send Chris Tillman and Ubaldo Jimenez to the mound for the final two games against the Blue Jays in Toronto Sept. 28-29, with Yovani Gallardo, Wade Miley and Kevin Gausman the projected three starters to close out the season against the Yankees in New York Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
Needless to say, if the Orioles clinch a playoff spot before the final regular-season game, Gausman would be scratched and perfectly positioned to start the win-or-go-home American League Wild Card game Oct. 4. But with the Orioles just one game ahead of the Detroit Tigers and two ahead of the Seattle Mariners, that could be a luxury the O's can't afford.
