Senior Maryland safety Denzel Conyers is out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL suffered during the Terps' 30-24 double overtime win at Central Florida Sept. 17, head coach DJ Durkin announced Sept. 27 during his weekly press conference at Maryland Stadium.

"He'll be having surgery here shortly this week," Durkin said. "Obviously, you feel for Denzel. He's a senior playing really well for us. He was, and continues to be, a great member of our team, but, obviously, just in a different way now."

The torn ACL marks the end of a tough senior year for Conyers, who suffered a concussion during fall camp and had to be driven off of the practice field in an ambulance. He took a long, winding road to Maryland, as he originally committed to Florida International in 2011, but never played for the Panthers.
