Michael A. Grandel
The National Aquarium is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael A. Grandel as director of business intelligence for the organization’s information technology (IT) team.
Grandel will be responsible for supporting the Aquarium’s business operations by strategically planning and implementing software applications in the areas of ticketing, accounting and customer relationship management. In this role, he will lead a team of business analysts and developers and collaborate with end users and third party vendors.
“As a seasoned data architect and Salesforce CRM expert, Michael brings with him a tremendous background in transforming data into actionable elements,” said Samuel Tawiah, vice president of information technology. “He will help establish and nurture a business intelligence center of excellence at the National Aquarium.”
Grandel comes to the Aquarium from the IT and business consulting firm Incapsulate, where he worked as a software engineer and developer designing data models and implementing solutions for Salesforce, a cloud-based application platform. Prior to Incapsulate, Grandel worked at the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development where, over the course of 15 years, he served in several positions including systems administrator, enterprise information systems manager, and director and chief data officer. Grandel has also served in IT roles with Fox Automotive Group, Concentra Medical Group and Signet Bank.
Grandel studied computer accounting at Villa Julie College, which is now Stevenson University.
