The Mullan Contracting Company, after constructing original building in 2015, retrofits structure to accommodate color scheme and interior layout for new automobile platform
Priority 1 Automotive Group successfully retrofitted its 7,920 square foot Maserati dealership and service facility, located at 720 Kenilworth Avenue in Towson, to MINI of Baltimore County in twenty-six days. Lutherville-based The Mullan Contracting Company constructed the original building in 2015, and also handled the conversion of the structure which officially opened for business on May 9. The less than four-week schedule also took into account a ten day period where the construction team was waiting for materials.
“For people that didn’t drive on Kenilworth Avenue for a few weeks, the transformation may have seemed like it transpired overnight,” explained Marc Cohen, Vice President for Priority 1 Automotive Group. “In reality, we met with the Mullan Contracting team on April 1 to express our desire for the changeover, and the plans were immediately set into motion. We experienced an extremely short downtime period in making this change.”
Mullan Contracting worked on the structure, which consists of a glass storefront system with support from a metal panel façade, and wrapped the silver alucobond panels with black 3M film that matched the MINI brand. The interior tile flooring was also replaced with a black color scheme, which involved a saw-cutting process, and the movement of data wiring and systems to accommodate new programs. Construction was also completed to build new offices and create more open space. The entire interior space was also repainted.
“Mullan Contracting’s familiarity with the building certainly expedited the conversion process, and we could not have imagined a more rapid process from start to finish,” Cohen added. “This site became the new home of our MINI dealership which was relocated from the Reisterstown Road corridor.”
